Sound the trumpet…today is Fat Tuesday! It is the most famous Carnival celebration in the entire world. I happen to love New Orleans…the history, the people, the food…the fun! It is just a wonderful city. To celebrate Fat Tuesday, I wanted to feature a New Orleans wedding tradition, the Second Line Parade. Traditionally, this parade was and still is a very common part of African American culture and is being embraced by many others. At a wedding it signifies the start of a new beginning of life for the bride and groom. The Second Line Band leads the bridal party and guest from the church to the reception venue or it may take place at the reception itself. Here are a few fave pictures from New Orleans based MQ Photography:

Love this tradition. Thank you for the award.
Great post and I just adore the cultural New Orleans traditions!
